The First Years of the University Previous
Soon after Cobb Hall was built, the men's dormitories Gates, Blake, and Goodspeed halls were completed under the direction of Henry Ives Cobb, followed by the women's dormitories Kelly, Foster, and Beecher halls.  This first phase of construction continued for the next nine years.  Today, Cobb's legacy
of the central quadrangles is unmatched as a testament to his vision
of a Gothic academic village.
